We are a local history group formed in 2003 who meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm except Jan & Aug at the Herne Institute Hall Canterbury Road Herne. We hold talks and outings based on local history topics and have an ongoing project group actively collecting local historical information. We published our first book (August 2007) entitled " Historic Herne & Broomfield" Our latest publication(May 2010) is a new booklet to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the formation of the parish of Herne 2010 entitled "Herne Chronicles" which is a collection of myths, facts and legends passed down over the centuries in both in written records and word of mouth.
