We hold talks and outings based on local history topics and have an ongoing project group actively collecting local historical information. We published our first book (August 2007) entitled " Historic Herne & Broomfield" and another publication(May 2010)was a booklet to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the formation of the parish of Herne in 1310 entitled "Herne Chronicles" Our latest publication "Beyond the Pond" was published in June 2011 and covers many aspects of the history and people of the hamlet of Broomfield which has been much changed over the past 20-30 years with extensive building developments. We are currently collecting information on Royal Visits to Herne and surrounding area from Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee to modern times in order to publish a book to celebrate our own Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee 2012.
